Telehealth is the use of technology, such as video calls, phone calls, or secure messaging, to provide healthcare services remotely. It allows clients to connect with providers from the comfort of their own home or wherever they have internet access.
How Do I Prepare For My Telehealth Session?
Preparing for a telehealth session is simple and ensures you get the most out of your virtual visit. Here are some tips to help:
Minimize distractions by turning off notifications on your phone or computer and letting others in your household know you’ll be in a private session. Your therapist will provide you with a secure link to join the session, and they will guide you through the process if you’re new to telehealth.
Choose a private space where you feel comfortable and won’t be interrupted during the session.
Ensure a stable internet connection so the video or audio doesn’t cut out.
Test your device’s camera and microphone ahead of time to avoid any technical issues.
Have any materials (like notes, questions, or documents) that you want to discuss with your therapist ready before the session begins.
Do You Take Insurance?
Lotus Light Counseling currently does not accept insurance. Here are some benefits of this approach:
- You won’t have a diagnosis label permanently attached to your health record.
- Your records are fully protected, ensuring that all personal information cannot be accessed by insurance companies.
- Your care is guided by our collaborative efforts rather than dictated by an insurance provider.
We are happy to provide documentation if you wish to submit for out-of-network benefits.
While Lotus Light Counseling does not accept insurance, Jamiee Bryant-Battle, LMFT is able to see clients through Grow Therapy, Headway, & Rula, all of which work with various insurance providers. If you have insurance and prefer to use it for therapy sessions, you can access more services through these platforms.

We make payments easy and flexible! At Lotus Light Counseling, we accept payment from:

How Often Will I See My Therapist?
I usually meet with individual clients once a week. This weekly frequency helps ensure that our work progresses effectively and at a comfortable pace.
How Long Does Therapy Usually Last?
The length of therapy varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some clients find that a few sessions are enough to address specific concerns, while others may benefit from ongoing support over a longer period. On average, many clients attend therapy for several months, with weekly or biweekly sessions. During your first session, your therapist will work with you to set goals and determine a timeline that works best for you.
What Should I Expect In My First Session?
In your first session, your therapist will focus on getting to know you and understanding your reasons for seeking therapy. You’ll discuss your personal history, any challenges you’re currently facing, and your goals for therapy. This session is a chance for you to ask questions, express concerns, and begin building a trusting relationship with your therapist. It’s a safe, supportive space where you can openly share your thoughts and feelings. Together, you’ll create a plan for your therapy journey.
